Description

SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
CD117/c-Kit protein is a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor with high homology to the PDGFR protein family. It plays an important role in haematopoiesis, melanogenesis, and gametogenesis. CD117/c-Kit is expressed in ductal epithelia of the breast, melanocytes, mast cells, and glial cells as well as in small cell lung cancer, breast carcinoma, glioblastoma and melanoma.
Antibodies to CD117/c-Kit are also suitable for characterisation of acute myeloid leukemia and detection of blast crisis in myeloid leukemia. In the light of new therapies for gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST) CD117/c-Kit has gained a growing importance in recent years.

Polyclonal
Isotype: IgG
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide from the C-terminus of human CD117 protein.
Staining pattern: Cell membrane
Positive control: Tissue sample from gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), skin or tonsil.

APPLICATIONS:
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human CD117 using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
This antigen is expressed in normal breast epithelium, melanocytes, mast cells, glial cells and lung small cell carcinomas, breast carcinomas, glioblastomas, melanoma, acute myeloid leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia in myeloid blast crisis. This antibody may be useful in histopathological identification of gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
