Description

SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
Collagen IV is the main constituent of basement membranes together with laminins and enactins. It is composed by an alpha 1 chain (IV) and other alpha 2 (IV) chain with a 2:1 ratio. It can form insoluble fibers with a high fracture resistance. This antibody reacts with collagen IV present in glomerular and tubular basement membranes from kidney, capillary basement lamina, and generally it binds to mesangial cells and the matrix synthetized by them, as well as to all basement membrane from all different organs.

Clone: CIV22+PHM-12
Isotype: IgG1/IgG1
Immunogen: Human glomeruli.
Staining pattern: Basement membrane.
Positive control: Tissue sample from skin or kidney.

APPLICATIONS:
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human collagen IV using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
This antibody is useful for detecting the disappearance of basement membrane parts in cases of carcinoma.
