Description

SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
Mucins are a family of heterogeneous, structurally related, high molecular mass (two-hundred to several thousand kDa) O-linked glycoproteins that are major components of mucus, the viscoelastic fluid that protects and lubricates cells lining the digestive, respiratory and urogenital tracts. Of the human mucins, MUC1 and MUC4 are membrane bound; MUC2, MUC5AC, MUC5B and MUC7 are cytoplasmic; and MUC3, MUC5, and MUC8 cannot be classified.

Clone: 45M1
Isotype: IgG1 Kappa
Immunogen: M1 mucin preparation from the fluid of an ovarian mucinous cyst.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic, Cell Surface.
Positive control: Tissue sample from stomach.

APPLICATIONS:
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human MUC5AC using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
