Mammaglobin is a 10 kDa protein; it can be detected in most of breast carcinomas, either primary or metastatic. In order to the present knowledge of the mammaglobin gene is expressed almost exclusively in normal breast tissue and breast carcinoma. Exocrine sweat glands from skin are a known exception because the also express the mammaglobin gene. Studies have shown that in this context, mammaglobin is more sensitive and specific that BRST-1 (BSA-225, TAG-90). Comparing to BRST-2 (GCDFP-15), mammaglobin is consider less specific but more sensitive. The values determination of mammaglobin was: 85% of specificity and 84.3% of sensitivity (Han et al 2003).

Isotype: IgG
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to human mammmaglobin protein.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from breast carcinoma.

This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human mammaglobin using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
