SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
The HMB-45 clone reacts with a neuraminidase-sensitive oligosaccharide side chain of a glycoconjugate present in immature melanosomes. The HMB45-reactive antigen is present in cutaneous melanocytes, prenatal and infantile retinal pigment epithelium and melanoma cells. It is also thought to be oncofetal in nature. This antibody has been shown to label the majority of melanomas.
Isotype: IgG1/Kappa + IgG2b/Kappa
Immunogen: Extract of pigmented melanoma metastases from lymph nodes + recombinant MART-1 protein.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from melanoma.
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human melanoma using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
