Insulin is a 51 amino acids polypeptide, and it is formed by two chains (A and B) linked by the C peptide. Proinsulin, which has a low biological activity, is converted by proteases action into insulin and basic residues in C-terminus. Insulin increases glucose, amino acids, and some ions transport by the membrane. It also promotes the glycogen accumulation, the triglycerides production and proteins and nucleic acids synthesis. Pancreatic islets are the main insulin storage. Antibodies against insulin are important for marking β cells and insulinomas.

Clone: 2D11-H5.
Isotype: IgG1/Kappa.
Immunogen: Purified human insulin.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from pancreas.

This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human insulin using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
